The <strong>STEAP Project in Benue State<\/strong>\u2014short for <em>School Anti-Trafficking Education and Advocacy Project<\/em>\u2014is placing schools at the very center of the solution.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Spearheaded by OWACDO (Okaha Women and Children Development Organization), with support from ICMPD and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, STEAP is a bold effort to embed anti-trafficking education into school systems. On April 17, 2025, a vital milestone was reached with a <strong>Baseline Rapid Needs Assessment<\/strong> held in Benue State involving school management committees and parent-teacher associations.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4aaec5a e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"4aaec5a\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-02df3ae elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"02df3ae\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Why the STEAP Project in Benue State Matters<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-704fa13 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"704fa13\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c2a4a22 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c2a4a22\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The stakes are high. In West Africa, more than 75% of human trafficking victims are children. To reverse this trend, prevention must begin where children spend most of their time: in schools.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The STEAP model is holistic. It educates not only students but also teachers, parents, and community leaders. font-style: normal;\">Mrs. Iveren Gloria Bai<\/strong>, Zonal Commander of <strong style=\"font-size: medium; font-style: normal;\">NAPTIP<\/strong>, recognized the urgency of child trafficking and reaffirmed the agency\u2019s commitment to awareness and anti-trafficking clubs.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-size: medium;
