On August 25, 2025, the Gamji Women Menstrual Health session, supported by Fòs Feminista and OWACDO, brought dignity and joy to 40 women in Makurdi. During their 4th session under the Sang Pour Sang Project, supported by Fòs Feminista, participants sent out a powerful message on menstrual dignity.
The atmosphere was electric—full of laughter, learning, and solidarity. Our Executive Director, who attended in person, could hardly contain her excitement. And rightly so. This was not just another community meeting. It was living proof that donor support translates into real, visible change for women navigating menstruation and menopause with dignity.
Learning to Live Well with Menopause
At this Gamji Women Menstrual Health session, 40 women explored affordable, practical ways to manage menopause and menstruation. With Sang Pour Sang and Fòs Feminista support, they discovered that:
Lifestyle changes can ease symptoms.
Balanced diets rich in iron, calcium, and fiber improve wellbeing.
Both medical and natural remedies are valuable.
Emotional support systems matter as much as treatment.
Together, they identified which foods worsen symptoms—like sodas, kolanuts, and coffee—and discussed healthier alternatives.
Stories of Change
With Sang Pour Sang and Fòs Feminista backing, powerful transformation stories are emerging.
Two women stood out with moving testimonies:
Maimuna Muktar shared that before the project, she was constantly in and out of hospitals, lost on how to handle her symptoms. Today, she feels equipped, empowered, and eager to educate others.
Ramlat Hamza said she’s now confident to talk with her children about menstrual health, and she’s ready to care for herself as she enters menopause—with knowledge, support, and dignity.
These are not just stories—they are sparks of transformation spreading across Makurdi and powered by Fòs Feminista and OWACDO.
Challenges and Lessons
Of course, challenges remain. Women spoke about the high cost of medical services and confusion over supplements. Yet, guided by Sang Pour Sang and Fòs Feminista project facilitators, they found hope: “health is wealth,” and even one or two check-ups a year can make a big difference.
The biggest lesson? Live demonstrations and relatable stories turn health education into lived experience—making it unforgettable.
A Session Full of Life
The photos and videos from the session show it best: the smiles, claps, and animated discussions. These women are not just learning; they are rewriting how their community talks about menstrual dignity and healthy aging—thanks to Fòs Feminista.

Looking Ahead
This was only the 4th session, but already the Gamji Women are showing what’s possible. With Sang Pour Sang and Fòs Feminista support, facilitated by OWACDO, women are standing taller, speaking louder, and living healthier.
Because when one woman learns, an entire community benefits.
