Poll: Maternity Leave Extension

As part of our ongoing advocacy efforts to improve maternal and child health outcomes, we are excited to delve into a thought-provoking topic: the extension of maternity leave for nursing mothers. At the heart of this issue lies a debate that encapsulates various perspectives and considerations.

PRO:

On one hand, there are valid concerns about the potential impact of extending maternity leave on businesses and the economy. Some may argue that longer maternity leave periods could strain employers, disrupt workflow, and potentially lead to increased costs.

CON:

On the other hand, advocates for extended maternity leave emphasize the importance of providing adequate time for mothers to bond with their newborns, establish breastfeeding routines, and ensure the overall well-being of both mother and child. Studies have shown that longer maternity leave durations are associated with positive health outcomes for both mothers and infants.

To facilitate a meaningful dialogue and gauge public opinion on this matter, we would love you to express their views on whether maternity leave should be extended from the current three months with pay to six months without pay. Have your say!
